Artist's Description

OK, so many have asked, "What's with the sock monkey?" "Did some small child lose it?" "What happened to the child?" Actually, my intent was much less sinister. Basically, it's a night scene on the beach with 4th of July fireworks. As for the sock monkey, it's kind of a reversal of the image from the original "Planet of the Apes" movie, at the end, when Charlton Heston is surprised by what he sees when riding his horse down the beach away from the Ape society . . .

For those who would like a print of this painting as simply a beach landscape (no monkey), I have created a modified version - see "4th on the Shore" also posted on this page.

I then study these initial efforts, looking for the final image I can reveal with more...
